Dental Implant FAQs
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are crafted from a tiny titanium cylinder that can be affixed to the upper or lower jawbone. The type of implant that will be used may depend on the amount of bone left in the jaw. There are even options available for those who no longer have much bone density left in their jaws.
How do dental implants work?
Once the implant has been placed into the bone, the bone will heal around it over a period of 4-6 months. Once the healing period is complete, they should fuse together, providing a strong anchor for the stability of the implant.
Can dental implants replace multiple teeth?
Yes, dental implants can replace a single tooth or a line of them. The implants are strong enough to stand in for a row of teeth in certain cases. Make sure you schedule an appointment if you need to discuss your unique needs.
How much experience does your office have with dental implants?
Servicing Lake County, Ohio for over 30 years, our dental implants have resulted in beautiful, healthy smiles for our patients. They result in a more natural type of tooth replacement that can restore your previous chewing ability, improve your appearance, and renew self-confidence.
Mini Dentures with Implants FAQs
Mini Implant Dentures: Why and for whom?
We proudly carry the latest IMTEC MDI System. This system of 1.8mm mini implants was designed to suit a wide range of patients, including those who are not good candidates for older or more invasive implant surgeries. It’s an effective system even for those who don’t have the bone density for typical implants, or for those who need to change their current prosthetic system.
Additionally, we can preserve sites where a tooth has been extracted and prevent the spread of bone loss where the implant is placed through a procedure known as Advanced Extraction Therapy. This is a recently developed treatment that offers a better foundation for all sorts of implants, including dentures.
What are mini implant dentures and how do they work?
The MDI System that we place at our office is formed of two parts. The first part is the tiny titanium implant that replaces the root of the tooth. That’s held on by a retaining fixture that is affixed to the denture itself. Though the denture is strong enough to handle lifting and pressing forces in the mouth, it’s still flexible enough to allow it to rest gently and make small movements.
This is a simple procedure that can be done quickly right here at our office. It’s minimally-invasive, and will not require a long healing period, especially compared to older implant procedures.
We would love the chance to tell you what we could do for you. The right dental procedures can take years off your face. Come see Dr. Gross for your all your denture needs in Lake County, Ohio.
